Ingredients (Yield: 1 pie, 8 servings)

1 roll of pre-made pie crust dough

¾ cup of sugar

¼ cup of cornstarch

¼ cup of cocoa powder

Pinch of salt

4 egg yolks

2 cups of milk (I’ve never tried using a non-dairy milk, so I don’t know how it would turn out)

¼ cup (½ stick) of butter (I’ve never tried using non-dairy butter, either)

1 tsp of vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Bake your pre-made pie crust in a pie tin according to package directions.

Step 2: Combine sugar, egg yolks, corn starch, cocoa powder, salt, and milk in a large pot. Stir until ingredients are well-combined, then move to stove.

Step 3: Cook your chocolate filling over medium-low heat, stirring frequently. Cook the chocolate mix until it becomes thick and bubbly.

Step 4: Remove the chocolate filling from the heat, and add in the vanilla and the butter. Stir constantly until the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy. Pour the filling into the pie crust.

Step 5: Cover the pie with a piece of plastic wrap, making sure the plastic wrap is touching the surface of the pie. Put the pie in the fridge to cool completely.
